From the “Drums Along the Rockies” program book (Casper, WY)

CHAMPIONS: World Open, CYO National & North American International Champions.
The Troopers distinctive Cavalry uniforms, straight out of the West of a hundred and eleven years ago, identify the boys and girls from Casper , Wyoming on sight. Being one of the first junior drum corps’ to ever win a national title, comprised of both boys and girls, the Troopers have earned a name for fine music, outstanding marching and maneuvering, friendliness, discipline and espirit de corps. Since 1965 the Troopers have won the World Open twice, in 1965 and 1969; the V.F.W. National in 1966; the CYO Nationals in 1968 and 1969; and North American Invitational in 1968 and 1969. The Troopers are the 1970 Champions of the North American invitational at Toronto, Canada; The CYO National at Boston; The V.F.W. National at Miami, Fla., and the World Open at Lynn, Mass. They had 15 firsts out of 18 contests in 1970.

From the “Festival of Music” program book (Anaheim, CA)

The Troopers were organized in December 1957. Officially known as the Casper Junior Drum and Bugle Corps, Incorporated, the founding of this nonprofit organization was the fulfillment of an idea Jim Jones had for a long time. Jones, Casper businessman, had two objectives in mind. First, to provide the community with a character-building organization, and second, to develop a drum and bugle corps that would be the pride of Wyoming.

While the Corps is made up of both girls and boys, the color guards are restricted to girls. Their job is to carry the United States and Wyoming colors, and the flags of the original sponsoring organizations in all performances. The Troopers have distinguished themselves as nationally tough competitors. Wyoming can be justifiably proud.

From Drum Corps News - August 9, 1972 (by Dale Karrigan)

Casper Troopers must have reached back into their old music files to come up with their 1972 opener of Ghost Riders In the Sky, which, much to my surprise, is quite a fine selection anyway.

It appears as if “F” Troop reached back into their old drill files also as they are marching a very “straight” M&M show very reminiscent of the Troopers of say five years ago, lots of company fronts. for one was very disappointed the Troopers dropped their imaginative production number of Western Tableau. Replacing this selection is a very fine arrangement of Black Saddle. If the Troopers could only improve upon their drum score (execution and GE) then perhaps they would be again sharing the crowns of victory as the other captions usually run 1, 2 and 3.
