Holsten, Francis pace Barracudas in Hillsborough

HILLSBOROUGH — Led by John Holsten and Sanjeev Francis, the Wilson Barracuda Swim Team turned in a quartet of top-10 finishes over the weekend at the 2014 Duke Aquatics Nike Invitational at Hillsborough Sportsplex.

Holsten, 16, had two top-10 results, finishing fourth in the men’s 100-yard backstroke and sixth in the men’s 200 breaststroke. Holsten touched the wall in 56.34 during the 100 backstroke proceedings and authored a time of 2:22.52 in the 200 breaststroke.

Francis, 10, was fifth in the Ages 10-and-under 50 backstroke, finishing in 36.35. Fourteen-year-old Zechariah Chastain was eighth in the men’s 200 backstroke, logging a time of 2:06.70. Also competing for the Barracudas were Neil Blackwell, Eric Eaton, Madeline Harrell, Abby Hodges, Emily Holder, Jonathan Leyson, Matthew Madar, Ethan Maddrey, Danielle Matrejek, Thomas Matrejek, Patrick McCullen, Gavin Nance, Tenaya Ney, Titus Ney, Hannah Price, Abigail Rogers, Timothy Vick, Alyson Williams, Kaylie Williams and Benjamin Woodard.

The team will next compete at the RMY Winter Invitational at Harrison Family YMCA in Rocky Mount from Jan. 25-26.
