From the 1988 DCI Championship Program:

An era in drum corps history came to an end last season as the Troopers’ founder, teacher, innovator, and DCI Hall of Famer Jim Jones stepped down as director following thirty years of dedication and service to the Troopers and the drum corps activity.

With Jones no longer at the helm, a new ear has begun, but the spirit of the corps which he created and nourished throughout this thirty year reign will carry on.

The 1988 edition of the Troopers will once again bring the excitement, beauty and adventure of the Old West to the drum corps field, offering music to fit the style and approach fans have come to love and expect from “America’s Corps.”

With the glorious power and drive of “The Magnificent Seven,” the quiet and beautiful pastoral “Corral Nocturne,” the enjoyable and entertaining, “Hoe-down,” and the wonderful western sounds from the movie “Silverado,” the spirit and vitality of the Old West will come to life on the field.

Get the Cavalry ready!
