Move Ins

What To Pack

Please write your name clearly on all of your personal property, especially newly purchased Troopers paraphernalia- everyone else's looks just like yours!

General

  • Sunscreen-30 SPF (Spray "active)
  • Lip stuff with sunscreen (DCT) - Avoid menthol
  • Lotion
  • Sunglasses
  • Water jug, minimum 1 gallon, short, fat and BLUE
  • Fanny pack or back pack
  • Bug Spray
  • Laundry bag!!
  • 1 Suitcase or duffel (when selecting the size remember you have to haul it in and out of the schools)
  • Sleeping bag in a stuff bag, pillow
  • Sleeping pad, twin size (no larger!) in a bag
  • Blanket and extra pillow case (for bus)
  • Laundry detergent - (TSA approved) either tabs or pre measured in zip lock bags inside a larger zip lock bag (10-12 for 5 laundry days)
  • Sewing kit
  • Safety and bobby pins
  • Roll of quarters
  • Extra Zip Lock bags
  • ATM debit or credit card
  • Bus bins to fit under the seat or in the overhead bins (large enough for show shoes, polishing cloths, shoe polish supplies, towels, valve oil, etc.)
  • Dot books (a small memo notebook or 3x5 cards in a spiral notebook and a shoe string work well)
  • Packet of inexpensive mechanical pencils

Toiletries

  • Shampoo and conditioner (place all bottles of liquids inside Zip Lock bag)- TSA Approved
  • Soap or shower gel (gel less messy)
  • Brush, comb
  • Tooth care items
  • 3-4 towels and wash cloths
  • Nail set with clippers
  • Personal hygiene products
  • Shaving cream, razors
  • OTC pain relief
  • Adequate Prescription medication for the duration or have prescriptions filled at Wal-Mart or Walgreens (it is in the computer then)
  • If you have ever worn a brace for a joint problem, please bring brace on tour

Uniform Wear – Brass and Percussion

  • 4-6 T-shirts (underarmour) – must have short sleeves – no sleeves under uniforms! (Underarmour can be washed in the shower and hung up tp dry)
  • 6-8 pair black socks
  • Hairnets (for anyone whose hair touches the collar)
  • Large bobby pins, minimum 8 (hold on hats)

Clothes

  • Baseball cap (mandatory for all outdoor rehearsals. Comes off in the food line)
  • 14-30 pair of white socks
  • 14 pair of shorts and t-shirts (5-7 if you wash in shower) Girls may wear sports bras or appropriate swim suit top (not x-rated)
  • 14 pair of underwear
  • Sandals for shower and when on bus
  • Sweatpants and sweatshirts, hoodies
  • Quality athletic shoes (New Balance or Aesics cross-trainers, at 1 pair - to be replaced about July 4th)
  • Rain coat or windbreaker
  • 1-2 sets of casual clothes (free days)
  • Casual shoes (1 pair, need to be able to walk in them)

Brass

  • Valve oil (in a zip lock bag)
  • Slide grease
  • Polishing cloth and/or silver polish
  • Mouthpiece and mouthpiece brush
  • Black towel

Percussion

  • Practice pad
  • 3 rolls of white stick tape

Guard

  • 3-4 rolls white electrical tape

Optional

  • iPod or CD player
  • Camera, batteries, film or disposable camera
  • Watch
  • Cell phone and charger (check for service availability across the nation)

All cell phones, iPods, cassette/cd players and chargers etc. are to be placed in a fanny pack and must be taken to the field by the member. Any of the above items found in the gym, locker rooms or hallway while the Corps is on the field will be confiscated and the member will be fined $5.00 before the item is returned.

Troopers are not responsible for items left in schools. Cleaning crew will pick up lost and found, but will only keep items for a few days.
