Third Floor
The third floor is home to the North Carolina Museum of the Coastal Plain, a floor devoted to the history of eastern North Carolina.
Southern Comfort is an exhibit that delves into the distinguished weaving heritage of eastern North Carolina. Even after the wide availability of commercially manufactured fabrics, men and women continued to weave their own beautiful textiles for bedding, clothing, and household use. You can take a deeper look into the lives of some of these eastern North Carolina weavers, see samples of their carefully crafted textiles, and learn more about the skills of a weaver. We've also created a space just for children where they can practice basic weaving, spinning, and dying activities.
