Meet the Pastors/Elders
Joshua Pegram, Lead Pastor
Joshua, Liz, and their kids arrived in Rockford in the summer of 2014. After serving for several years on the staff of a church in Greenville, SC, the Lord led Joshua to Morning Star as our lead pastor. The Pegram family loves the body of Christ here. Joshua likes to spend time with people, play (and watch) sports, and read. But most of all, he is passionate to make Christ known and is convinced that God works in the world today primarily through the local church. Joshua preaches to exalt Jesus Christ, to make the Word of God clear, and to see lives changed by the power of the Spirit.
Jack Cook, Lay Elder
Jack was born and grew up in Ecuador, where he was fortunate to witness the gospel lived out in his missionary parents’ lives. Jack came to know the Lord at an early age as a result of their testimonies. He and his wife Jane are charter members of Morning Star and have both been involved in the ministry of Morning Star since the formation of the church in 2002. Jack’s desire is to see the Lord glorified in Rockford, and he is dedicated to seeing Jesus Christ magnified through the Word-centered ministries of Morning Star Church.
Gary Love, Lay Elder
Gary grew up in the Rockford area and moved back to Northern Illinois in 1997 after being away for 10 years. He and his wife Kristen joined Morning Star Church in 2011. Gary serves as treasurer and teaches in the Sunday School program. The Love family enjoys opportunities to just hang out with other families at Morning Star, and Gary is devoted to helping the church be a vibrant, Christ-centered community.
Jake Wilson, Lay Elder
Jake grew up in Moline Illinois and moved to Rockford shortly after graduating college. Jake and his wife, Audrey, joined Morning Star in 2007 and have served in the youth and children’s ministries. They have been blessed with four children. Jake loves the outdoors and enjoying all that God has created and more importantly he has a strong desire to see all people grow as Christ followers through the ministry of the church.
