Steve Faulkner, Senior Pastor
We weren’t born here, but we got here as soon as we could; or, at least as soon as the Lord saw fit. We came here from Texas where Judy and I first made our home as newlyweds. Raised in northwestern Ontario as an MK, she had roots in Tennessee, where I was born and raised, and where we did much of our courting in university. Once we were married, Texas was where we ventured out into life and ministry.
We enjoyed 17 fruitful years of ministry there filled with a full measure of joy and challenges. In that time, we were blessed by God with 3 beautiful children who have been a delight to our hearts. Along the way, we began searching out the possibility of moving closer to family in Tennessee. That’s when we got a call from Canada and Emmanuel Bible Church. The rest is history.
We have enjoyed 12 wonderful years here in ministry with you. Our delight is to see people come to know the Lord, grow in their walk with Him through His Word, and develop a passion for reaching others here and abroad with the good news of Jesus Christ. What a journey!
Joel Houghton, Pastor of Congregational Care
I was raised in Collingwood, Ontario and came to know Jesus Christ as my personal saviour at the age of five. As I grew, my parents were faithful to instruct me in the Truth and we were blessed to attend a church where God’s Word was faithfully taught and where we could be involved in ministry together. I attended Word of Life Bible Institute in 2006-2007, then I attended New Brunswick Bible Institute from 2007-2010. Jillian and I were married in the summer of 2009 and began our life together in Simcoe, Ontario where I served as a Pastoral Intern at Emmanuel Bible Church. We liked it so much that we decided to stay. The Lord has blessed us with 3 wonderful children and many precious relationships here. We are excited to continue building relationships at Emmanuel and are trusting the Lord to do great things as we minister to His church.
Dan Johnson, Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries
I trusted in Jesus Christ to forgive my sins and become my Lord and Saviour at the age of 7 after hearing the gospel while attending a summer day camp. At the age of 12 I was baptized in order to publicly profess my faith in Jesus Christ and ask that others help me live the new life that Jesus had given me. After struggling in my walk with the Lord throughout my university years, I was asked to help teach at youth group at Emmanuel Bible Church. Although in no position to lead others spiritually because of sinful decisions I had made in my life, I accepted. Through that, I dove in to God’s word and He began changing me into the disciple of Jesus He wanted me to become. After working as a high school teacher for many years, in 2011 the Lord led me to full time mission work here in Canada with Word of Life Fellowship. Then, in September 2015, the Lord put a clear desire on my heart to pastor/shepherd one local church. The pursuit of this led me to Emmanuel Bible Church.
